Fix Deployment Fast with a Docker Course in Ahmedabad
Are you tired of hearing or saying, "It works on my machine"? That phrase is an indicator of disruptively broken deployment processes: when code works fine locally but breaks on staging and production.
From the perspective of developers and DevOps teams, it is exasperating, and quite frankly, it drains resources. The solution to this issue is Containerisation. The local Docker Course Ahmedabadpromises you the quickest way to master it.
The Benefits of Docker for Developers
Docker is a solution to the problem of the numerous inconsistent environments; it is not only a trendy term. Docker technology, which utilises Docker containers, is capable of providing a reliable solution to these issues. Docker is the tool of choice for a highly containerised world. It allows you to take your application and every single one of its components and pack it thus in a container that can execute anywhere in the world. Because of this feature, âworks on my machineâ can be completely disregarded.

Hereâs some links about amusement park trains (mostly US and mostly steam, itâs actually really hard to find much on non-steam ones)
Outdated but extensive list of Crown Metal Products trains
Relatively current list of only their steam engines
General amusement park trains site, dated but very thorough with what it has, lots of photos
The wikipedia list of amusement park railroads is very incomplete but a decent starting point for non-Disney parks with historic trains
(funny fact: I thought Hersheyparkâs train was a fake with some attention to detail sound/motion wiseâŠ. it is not, just very small and clean burning)
#the 60s-80s was actually a very GOOD time to be a new build small choo choo in the US. Or even a surviving old one#just going down the lists you can see what impressive âjob securityâ they technically had. Also HIGH survival rate vs general 60s-70s ride#i donât think cedar point posts the numbers regularly anymore but the train used to have top ridership in the park#with how other amusement rides are just as if not more specialized (and lower capacity) steam trains are pretty economical for them#lol when i am less busy i will draw/write out my Ol Smoky the historically accurate new build steam engine who is WILDLY hateable#basically a reagan standin (even the cowboy actor part) who plays the victim despite having the cushiest job and PR#deflects factual arguments with stupid emotional one liners and suggests horrible backwards answers to problems#reference#honestly hilarious that being a hardcore amusement park enthusiast was what made me go from finding rusty cliche to painfully WRONG#âpainting steam as a victim how clicheâ âoh god this was when they were having bidding wars and importing barely salvageable stuffâ#âwow actual US trains had a TERRIBLE time in those yearsâ#UK has similar issues but less one-sided mask off awful mainline rail politics so itâs more just cringey vs painful#still firmly in the era of people saving almost everything at Barry (that wasnât even mechanically functional)

Carry The Zero
Pairing: Bob/Robert Reynolds/Sentry (or The Void) x Avengers!Fem!Reader
Summary: You and Bob are sharing a room while the Avengers Compound is under renovations, which brings on a slew of new things to learn about one another.
Warnings: Semi Spoilers for Thunderbolts I guess because Bob is in here. Other than that there is nothing too extreme happening in here, itâs a bit emotional, but there is fluff in here, I would kind of describe this as a Hurt/Comfort fic than anything. There are mentions of abuse and there is also some heavy petting maybe? I mean, Iâll put that in here to cover my booty lol.
Authors Note: My second viewing of Thunderbolts truly got my mind racing for what to write in regard to Bob. Thought I would put out this lil blurb and probably add more to it later in another segment or something! Anyways! Enjoy yâall and happy premiere weekend!!! :)
Word Count: 6,784
The room wasnât built for two people, thatâs what you knew for sure. It used to be a storage space, at least that is what you assumed judging by the various filing cabinets that lined the area, the dented lockers that were near the door, and the strewn papers that nobody decided to throw away in preparation for the move-in. The only thing that was the saving grace was the fact that the place had a window that let you look out onto the city. But it still didnât truly make up for the cramped space, even though they were able to shove two twin sized beds inside it and call it a roomâwhich showed how effective their planning was throughout all the chaos.
The Avengers Compound was still under renovations after a security breach took out part of the living space, meaning everyone needed to be shuffled like cards in a losing deck. Room assignments were given unwillingly to everyone, and you had been paired with Bob.
It was weird to be rooming with someone who had the power of a million exploding suns as people liked to say, because even though he carried that on his sleeve sheepishly, his personality certainly didnât match that of a person who could take down the entire world. He was shy, quiet, and careful, tip-toeing around you like you were going to snap at him at any secondâwhich was not the case at all.
Compared to the other options you had you actually preferred to be rooming with him.
The first few days had passed in near silence. You didnât talk much, youâd only go into your room to sleep or change, and when you would do something outside of those two things Bob would rush out pretty quickly, apologizing nervously under his breath, like he thought you were obligated to time alone.
Heâd go to bed early, and youâd catch him reading beneath the awful buzzing lamp that was left in the room from before the two of you moved in. You never really asked him what he was reading because the title was always changing, like he couldnât finish anything, or he had so much time to himself he was finishing books like they were snacks.
Then there were little things you began to notice.
Heâd pace a lot, wring his hands in his lap, or pick at the skin on his fingers. He was clean, he never left shoes in the middle of the room, and always lined them up neatly under his bed frame, even yours. He would flinch at loud noises, like if there was a childish argument happening in the communal kitchen and things got too high in volume he would get a little twitchy. He was observant, and paid attention to everything around himâsometimes you would hear him talking to himself, repeating fragments of conversations from earlier in the day, like it grounded him in some way.
He had his routine and you respected it as much as possible, but tonight was entirely different.
You were coming in late from training, and a med bay visit.
The scrape on your shoulder wasnât serious, but it was bad enough to have Bucky send you down to get checked out. It was standardâsome antiseptic, a lecture from one of the nurses about being more careful and aware of your surroundings, and then you were released with a warning, and a fresh bandage. You were exhausted, sore, and annoyed with yourself for not paying attention and letting your guard down during a simulation, especially because the past few nights had been like that.
By the time you reached your floor, the halls were quiet. There wasnât any bickering or discussions happening in the kitchen, nobody was lingering in the living room with post-mission jitters, it was just peace, for once.
You stopped at the fridge to pick yourself up a bottle of electrolytes, then paused, eyeing the row of them. You bit your inner cheek, and after a second of hesitation you grabbed another one for Bob, tucking it against you.
You figured he would be awake like he always was when you were on your training nights. You werenât sure if he was just waiting for you or if he was just incapable of resting when you werenât accounted for, but you never asked.
Slowly, you moved down the hall, twisting the cap off your drink with a wince when you strained just a little too much, causing the bandage to sting beneath your shirt. You gritted your teeth and let out a frustrated grunt.
âGotta take it easy on yourself.â You heard Bucky say from behind you. You turned on your heel, seeing he was still in his training gear, also holding a bottle of electrolytes as well, âYouâre gonna burn out if you donât take breaks.â You shifted under his gaze.
âI want to be better, thatâs why Iâm training. If you got your ass handed to you on the field you would be doing the same.â He shook his head.
âNo. I would be resting and seeing what I could do better the next time. Donât come to training for the rest of the week, just relax and recoup, weâll revisit your regimen when youâre better.â Before you could say anything he typed his code in for his room, and was out of your sight. You could feel your body seething as you turned back around to continue making your way down the hall. Youâd seen it coming from a mile away just by the way he was watching you during the simulation but you never thought he would say anything to you like that. It just added another layer of annoyance as you reached your room.
You pushed the door open gently, careful not to let the hinges creak too loudly. The room was dark, which was unexpected, Bobâs light wasnât even on. The only thing that was illuminating the room was the shimmer of city lights, casting silver-blue shadows across the floor.
Bob was in bed, lying on his side facing you, with his blanket tugged up to his neck. His face was soft in the low lightâfeatures relaxed, eyes closed. Sleeping, or at least you thought he was. You lingered in the doorway for a moment, squinting in the dimness of the room to see him a bit better.
His light brown hair looked a little messy, like heâd been shifting around for a while before finally settling on the position he was in now. You wondered how long he was lying like that, or if he had been waiting for your return but fell asleep in the process, and now you felt even worse than before.
You let the door close softly behind you with a gentle click, removing your shoes slowly, one at a time. Every motion felt heavier than it should haveâdull with fatigue, and edged in frustration. You padded across the narrow space, keeping your steps quiet, with the extra bottle of electrolytes tucked against you, the condensation seeping through your training jacket.
You crouched slowly beside Bobâs bed, biting back a wince as your muscles tensed in protest, while you placed the bottle down on the floor, angling it so heâd see it when he woke up. It was a small, quiet offering, just something kind, a consideration in a way. You took your next moves slowly as you stood up and turned to your own bed with a tired exhale, putting the cap back on your drink and throwing it onto your bed. One hand rose to the zipper of your training jacket, pulling it down in a swift movement, teeth grinding while you pushed the fabric off your shoulders, feeling pain erupt from your ribs and shoulder now, the muscles pulsing with burning heat.
The cool air of the room hit your skin instantly, and your tank top didnât do much to hide any of your injuries from the environment. Your back arched with the grating sting that came through you, and one hand came up to press against the bandage, making sure it was still on properly and not tugging at your skin. The ache was sharp and pulsing, and when your fingers came away damp, you already knew there was blood seeping through the gauze. You grimaced but didnât consider making another trip to the med bay. You were too tired to care at this point, and it wasnât something that would cause you to bleed out, so it was a morning issue to deal with.
You turned toward your dresser, collecting a pair of cotton shorts and an oversized sweater that smelled faintly of sage, throwing both articles of clothing down onto your bed with a soft plop. You rolled your shoulder gently, testing the range of motion in it with a quiet wince before reaching for the hem of your tank top, peeling the rough fabric up your skin carefully, trying to avoid the worst of the sting, though even at your slowest pace you could feel the movement pulling at the wound.
The cotton clung briefly to the tape of the gauze and the dried sweat that coated your skin before finally giving way, and coming off completely. You let out a sigh of relief, as you let the fabric fall to the floor, reaching for your sweater next. The bandage on your shoulder throbbed with every shift you made, but it was the deeper bruises scattered across your bodyâghosts of impacts from the past few daysâthat ached beneath your skin like an echoing thunder. You glanced down at yourself, taking in the way they bloomed across your ribs, stomach, and hips, at this point you could see more bruises than your actual flesh at this point, and they were tender, dark and swollen. Maybe Bucky was right, maybe you really did need a breakâŠ
Your fingers curled loosely into the hem of your sweater, but you didnât think to pull it on yet, you just continued to look down at the wreck that was your body, and the longer you stared, the more numb you became. It was easy to take a break but it wasnât deserved, you couldnât afford to make any more mistakes during missions, and you knew you werenât going to listen to Bucky, you would keep training until your body gave out.
You closed your eyes for a moment, before lifting the sweater towards you, ready to retreat into its softness, ready to disappear and call it a night, but then you heard it.
A breath. Sharp and quick. You froze in your spot.
Then came the sound of movement, the shuffling of the blanket, the mattress creaking under the shifting weight.
Your eyes darted toward Bobâs bed instantly, seeing that his back was now turned towards you. His blanket was pulled up around his shoulders, almost covering his whole head, but there was tension in his posture now, like he was more alert, and less relaxed.
Another breath was inhaled, only it was thinner this time, and wet, followed by a muffled sniffle. Your brows furrowed, and you worked quickly to throw your sweater on without hurting yourself so you were covered up completely, before making your way to his bed, crouching down on the floor, keeping your attention fixated on him. His shoulders were rising and falling now in uneven motions, and now you were piecing together that he was actually crying.
ââŠBob?â You whispered, voice soft and low, like if you made it any louder than the volume you were at now it might shatter him. You could see the shuddering in his shoulders halt at the way you said his name, and he pulled the blanket higher over his head, like he was trying to shield himself from your eyes.
âIâm sorryâŠâ Your brows pulled together in confusion as you leaned against the bed a little more, watching the outline of his frame beneath the covers, seeing the small tremors still running through his shoulders. You bit the inside of your cheek as you reached out, your hand hovering for a breath before resting gently against the curve of his back. He was radiating heat through the blanket, but he was stiff beneath your touch, like he didnât know what to do with the comfort you were offering.
âBobâŠWhy are you apologizing?â You asked softly. He took in another shaky breath, but didnât answer. You let out a sigh, rubbing your hand up and down his back like your mother used to when you cried, trying to soothe him, to calm him as much as you could.
âIâŠI saw the bruises.â He said, barely a whisper. Your hand on his back froze for a moment, âI-I didnât mean to look, I swear, I just-â His breath hitched, realizing that you were probably throwing daggers into his back with your eyes, âI just woke upâŠAnd saw them, and I couldnâtâŠCouldnât stop rememberingâŠâ He couldnât finish his sentence, it was just too much, as another set of sobs escaped his throat. You could feel your gaze soften at the noise, almost like a piece of your heart was breaking for him, continuing your movements along his back, pressing just a little harder into the muscle.
âIs there anything I can do? Do you want some electrolytes or something?â He shook his head.
âNoâŠP-Please just stayâŠâ His voice was hoarse, cracking under the thickness that coated his throat from the tears. You nodded even though he couldnât see you, staring at his shoulders as he continued to cry, curling in on himself beneath his blanket.
You continued rubbing his back, keeping a steady and consistent rhythm. The heat of him radiated through the blanket like a furnace on the verge of burning itself out. Every time your hand passed over his spine, his shoulders seemed to loosen by a fraction.
âC-Can I ask somethingâŠKind of w-weird?â His voice broke through the quiet again, in such a timid whisper that you barely heard it.
âSure.â You replied, hearing him sniffle again. There was a long pause, and you could feel the hesitation, like he was trying to put his words together properly so whatever he was going to say didnât come off creepy. You continued to run your hand over his back, waiting patiently for him, watching his figure rising and falling beneath the blanket, still seeing it shaking. In your mind, you were worried, you hadnât seen him like this before, and there was a moment where you considered calling Bucky or Yelena to come help you, but then his voice broke through the thoughts.
ââŠCould youâŠâ He took another breath, âCould youâŠPlease hold me?â The question came out strangled, like it had clawed its way out of his throat before he could second-guess it again. You blinked slowly at the request, not because you were unsure of your answer, but because the way he said it was so gentle, and embarrassed it caught you off guard in a way.
You werenât sure what you were expecting him to say, you thought maybe he was going to ask you for a tissue, but this was something far more vulnerable, something you never thought would come from Bob of all people, even though you knew he was sensitive. Inside you hesitated only because you didnât want to hurt him by possibly doing the wrong thing, yet your heart ached watching him break down beneath his blanket which at this point was drowning him because of how much he had curled up beneath it.
âOf courseâŠJust let me change out of these training pants first okay? Itâll just take a second.â There was no response to that, just movement. He shifted towards the wall so he was giving you enough space to get in, still hunched over like he felt guilty for the area that he occupied. You quickly stood up, and made quick work of shimmying out of your training pants and putting on your cotton sleep shorts, which was probably the best idea since you felt him burning through the blanket he was wrapped in. You brought your attention back to him soon after, returning to the side of the bed, your eyes roaming over the lump that resembled his body.
With a gentle hand, you tugged the edge of the blanket down just enough to uncover the top of his head, revealing his light brown hair again which looked dampened with sweat beneath the illuminating city lights that shined through the window. He didnât say anything, or protest being exposed to you, so you took that as a good sign to continue.
You slid into the space he made for you, careful not to jostle the cocoon he made for himself too much, and eased your bad arm underneath his pillow so your scraped shoulder could rest in a neutral position where your bandage wouldnât rip off your skin completely. You pulled up the blanket slightly, getting in behind him, scooting closer until your chest met his damp back.
His navy blue t-shirt was soaked through completely, and it wasnât helping that he was wearing long pants to bed either. There was a fear he was gonna pass out from heat stroke or something, but he had mentioned it several times that he ran hot in general, you just didnât see it to this extreme. He smelled like a salty rain storm, or like ozone, it was something indescribable to you in those moments, but it was what he typically radiated, it was familiar.
Slowly, you brought your arm over his torso, placing your hand onto the hard plane of his sternum, the muscles beneath his shirt twitching against the unfamiliar touch that you introduced to him.
Neither of you spoke, you just laid against each other in pure silence, listening to each other's breathingâhis trembling, yours steady. He could feel your hot breaths against his neck and tried to pay attention to it, as you pushed down the blanket a bit with your elbow to shed the makeshift shield from his body. It took him a while to compose himself enough to speak again, but when he did, you were hanging off of every word.
ââŠWhen I saw the bruisesâŠâ He rasped, âAll I could think about was me. When I was a kidâŠâ The mentioning of his childhood immediately felt like a blow to your stomach. He had said something about how he was raised in passing, but it was an off handed remark that nobody really paid attention to. You figured it was something he didnât want to talk about, but hearing him say this only made you dread what he was going to continue with.
âAfter heâd hit meâŠIâd go over to the mirror, just to see how bad it was. Iâd tell myself it didnât hurt, even if it did, Iâd just lie to myself, because I knew if I cried, heâd just get angrier. He was always in the mood to beat me up so when he had a reason I think it made him feel justified in someâŠMessed up way.â Your chest tightened at his words, thinking about how scary it mustâve been for him, and how terrified he mustâve felt not knowing when his own father would strike. You didnât speak right away, but you did shift, sliding your hand up higher on his chest, so you could press your palm flat over his heart. His shirt was soaked there too, yet beneath it all you could feel the frantic fluttering of his pulse, like a bird rattling against its cage.
âIâm sorry,â You whispered, your breath tickling his neck again. He didnât respond, though he didnât recoil either.
âNone of that shouldâve ever happened to you,â You continued softly, brushing your thumb along the fabric against his heart, âYou were a child, and you didnât deserve that.â He let out a breath like he was trying not to begin sobbing again.
âYou donât have to say that.â You raised your head a bit, almost in disbelief that he truly thought that what happened to him was somehow okay or justified.
âI do, Bob.â You murmured, inching just a little closer, feeling your body screaming in protest as your injured shoulder moved the wrong way, causing you to hiss through your teeth. Bob noticed instantly.
âYouâre hurting,â He said quietly with guilt sinking into every syllable.
âI really couldnât give a crap about that right now Bob, trust me Iâve been through worse. Youâre hurting right now too and Iâm not going anywhere. Do you understand?â You replied back, your voice low, but lacking bite, not that you intended to have it sound stern or anything.
Bob shifted beneath your touch, slowly rolling onto his back like the weight of your words cracked something loose inside him. You adjusted carefully to give him space, keeping your injured shoulder angled away from the impact of his back pressing against your arm, even though the ache felt like white noise beneath the tension that was beginning to rise in the room. When he settled on his back you adjusted yourself so your chin rested against his chest, keeping your hand splayed in the same position over his heart.
His eyes didnât find yours at first, they stared blankly at the ceiling, the soft glow of the city lights catching the shimmer of the tears that were still pooling in his eyes. Now that you could see him fully, you realized how bad things really were. His skin was blotchy, and flushed from how hot he was. His cheeks were stained with fresh tears, mixing with sweat that created this overall sheen on his skin in general, which made his hair cling to his forehead. A long, old kind of hurt settled over his face, the kind that hid quietly within the corners of a person.
He inhaled shakily, and every exhale got caught somewhere between exhaustion and restraint. You could feel the rise and fall of his chest beneath your chin, and it made you ache in a way that put a hole deep in your chest.
âBobâŠâ You murmured, barely louder than the sound of the city humming outside the window, âLook at me.â At first he didnât move, keeping his eyes fixated on the ceiling, distant and confused, still taking in those short bursts of air. Your hand left his chest, bringing them up to his jaw, coaxing his attention with the lightest touch you could give him.
âLook at me Bob,â You whispered again.
Then slowly, his eyes shifted downward until they found yours. The moment his gaze landed on you, something cracked open between you bothâit was quiet, and delicate, but present and grounded in the center of it all. His expression was drawn, and his lashes were clumpy and wet with tears, framing his shimmering blue irises.
The skin surrounding his eyes were raw, almost a blood red, like someone had scratched it and left their marks streaking down his flesh. You didnât flinch away from it though, you just looked at him with such focus, like your gaze could settle the storm that was in him. You could see his lip tremble slightly under your gaze as he tried to hold himself still, tears brimming in his eyes again, threatening to spill.
âI hate rememberingâŠI canât stand it. I donât want to remember this stuffâŠI donât want to think about it anymore, and I donât want you to associate me with being weak.â You raised your eyebrows, now raising your head up to you were looking at him a little better, resting your hand against his chin now.
âI donât, â You stated, watching a set of tears flow out of the corners of his eyes, swallowing loudly, âI donât associate you with weakness.â You whispered, brushing your thumb along the smooth skin of his cheek.
âI associate you with patienceâŠWith overwhelming kindness, and with strength so deep it doesnât even have to be displayed. You could burn the sky downâŠYou could use all the pain inside you to destroy the planetâŠYet you help, you listen, and you keep going. Thatâs not a weak person Bob.â You wiped one of the tears away with your thumb, feeling him hesitate before leaning into your touch.
âY/NâŠIâm not right in the headâŠYou donât understandâŠYouâll never understand.â You shook your head, and sighed.
âI donât have to understand everything to care about you,â Bobâs eyes squeezed shut for a moment, like the words that you said hit him like a truck. You could feel the tension in his jaw, as he clenched it tightly, trying to contain himself a bit.
âI used to think that if I could just bury everything deep enough maybe it wouldnât make me feel so contaminatedâŠBut then when I got the serumâŠAnd The Void cameâŠAnd that awfulness manifested into something biggerâŠI realized that it just wouldnât go away. Iâm dangerous Y/NâŠIâm not someone that can be fixed. I know you care, but I canât risk hurting you.â You shifted closer to him, moving up slowly, dragging your chest along his. His eyes followed your movements, turning his head when you settled near his shoulder, feeling your hand leave his cheek.
âYou donât scare me Bob. Youâre just saying this stuff because you think itâll make me give up on you, but Iâm not that easy to sway.â You whispered, reaching down to touch one of his hands, which caused him to flinch. He was already bracing himself, preparing to be pulled into one of your memories, but it didnât happenâŠIt was likeâŠThings were quiet. Just pure emptiness, and the only thing he could see was you. He stared at you as you wrapped your fingers around his hand, seeing his brows draw together.
âH-How are youâŠDoing this?â He asked quietly, like he was afraid he was going to disturb the peace and get thrown into your mind out of nowhere.
âI locked it out.â He shook his head at you quickly.
âThatâs impossibleâŠIt always gets inâŠâ A small smile came up on your lips, hearing the disbelief in his voice, the way he was almost entirely taken aback by what you had just said. You leaned in a little closer to him, like you were going to tell him a secret, feeling his breath fanning over your face.
âBefore I was recruited, I was part of a different team. Black-ops, kind of like what the X-Men used to be, but very much under the radar. It was justâŠConstant missions, we were a clean up crew basically, picking up the scraps that nobody else wantedâŠâ You smiled faintly, the corner of your mouth twitching with the memories of your team, how close you all were, how none of you took crap from anyoneâŠSimilar to what you had now, just a little better because of the tether you all had between each other.
âWe ran into a lot of people with gifts. Telepaths. EmpathsâŠStuff like that. Some didnât even know they were projecting until it was too late. Others weaponized it. Pulled secrets out like stitches and drove people insane without ever touching them.â
Bob was still staring at you, eyes wide and brimming with tears, his chest rising beneath you in short bursts.
âIt was mandatory,â You continued. âTo train in mental shielding. Neural control. The discipline to lock down your own mind so tight itâs like a vault. We trained until our thoughts didnât even echo. You learn to breathe around psychic pressure, to mask trauma with static, to reroute memories into dead space. You learn to feel someone reaching for youâŠAnd then cut the line.â
Bob swallowed hard, hearing the way you explained everything to him step by step, while still holding his hand, running your thumb over the back of it.
âI wasnât trained to stop the Void,â You said gently, âBut I was trained to stop something similar to it. And apparently, itâs just close enough.â You watched his lashes flutter like he didnât know whether he was going to cry again or if he was just going to sink into the mattress and disappear entirely.
ââŠThatâs why the mental noise isnât so loud when we're alone in a room togetherâŠâ He whispered under his breath, almost like everything was clicking in his mind, as his hand began to tighten around yours now, matching the same hold you had, ââŠMental shieldingâŠWho knew that would be the thing that makes everything go quiet.â You smirked at his comment, already hearing the tension in his voice wavering, feeling his breath sticking to your cheeks, shifting in front of him so your noses bumped slightly.
âTechnically itâs still quite an experimental thing, butâŠIt works when needed I think.â You can see his lip twitch slightly, drawing into his mouth just a little bit, as if he wanted to get a taste of your breath that coated it.
âItâsâŠAmazing.â Was all he could muster up to say, continuing to hold onto your hand tightly, like it was anchoring him to this quiet space in his head that he had not been able to reach since taking the serum. ââŠAll I hear, and all I feelâŠIs you and I had no clue until nowâŠâ The sound of his voice made your spine tingle, and goosebumps raise on your skin.
It was shocking that moments ago he was this wreck, then suddenly it was like he was on top of the world. Maybe it was because he hadnât been touched like this in so long, or maybe it was because he finally had a break from all the noise that kept draining him, you had no clueâŠBut what you did know is how soft his eyes had become, and how deep his breaths were now that he was a little calmer, and not being treated like a threat of some kind.
You shifted again, getting almost unbearably close to him now, the fabric of the blanket sliding down slowly, exposing your clothed bodies to the silvery-blue light just a little more. Bob didnât move, but his eyes never left yours, he kept every ounce of attention on you, waiting for your next action, hanging on every moment. His breath hitched when your knees bumped gently against his thigh, as the warmth of your bodies radiated like twin heartbeats pressed just barely apart.
Your noses were brushing against one another, and if you tilted your chin up by just a little bit, youâd be kissing.
âIâm glad Iâve been able to make it go quiet for youâŠEven if itâs not permanent.â A faint smile slowly appeared on his faceâcrooked, and trembling, but so genuine.
âItâs more peace than I thought Iâd ever getâŠSo thank you.â He replied back, his hand squeezing yours, not in desperation, but with something closer to awe, like he still couldnât wrap his head around the situation that was happening in front of him. His breath brushed across your face as he watched your eyes roaming over his. You couldnât help but stare at him, to take him in now that he wasnât crying, to admire the person who was in front of you. It was hard not to lose track of time studying his features, and how they were justâŠHim.
There was a long pause between the both of you, a snippet of time suspended into the universe where nothing else existed beyond the narrow bed and the hum of the city beyond the window. His chest rose slowly, puffing out warm shallow breaths against your lips, and for a second it felt like he was hesitating on somethingâŠBut then, he leaned in.
It wasnât fast, or sweeping like he was trying to catch you off guard. It was careful, like every little millimeter he closed between the both of you was an offer for you to pull back, but you didnât take it.
When his lips met yours, it was a soft, trembling brush of mouths that lingered more in intent than execution. He kissed like he was afraid you were somehow going to disappear, but you could feel how much he truly wanted this. His lips were warm, and slightly parted, and you could taste the faintness of tears and salt, still hesitating to go the full mile.
There was a moment where he was about to pull back, and thatâs when you took the opportunity to fully lean into the kiss and throw logic out the window, just for this one cut of time
Your lips moved against his, answering the softness of his approach with something more certain and grounded. The taste of him was still there, but now it was amplified tenfold from how much more pressure you were placing on the kiss now.
He was stiff at first, the tension in his jaw made it evident, like he was unsure of what he was allowed to do, what he was okay to give back, or like he was bracing himself for the possibility of you pulling back before he could even try to meet you where you were at. But then your hand let go of his, and slid up to cup the side of his face, and he let out the smallest gasp of disbelief against your mouth. Your thumb brushed gently beneath his eye as your lips molded to the shape of his mouth with a tenderness that shattered whatever restrain heâd been holding onto.
Your arm shifted beneath the pillow, bending just enough so you could lace your fingers into his damp hair, pulling him in more with such grace that it made him groan. His hand moved to your neck thenâhis shaky fingers pressing softly just below your ear, his thumb brushing over the curve of your jaw as he located your pulse instantly. His touch wasnât possessive, it was filled with care, and curiosity. He wanted to feel the warmth of your skin, the steadyâor not so steadyârhythm of your heartbeat beneath his fingers, he craved to be closer to you, and every moment that passed was giving him the signal that you wanted that too.
He shifted gently, slowly turning onto his side without breaking the kiss, being cautious not to put anymore unwanted pressure on your arm beneath him as he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you in until your bodies were flush against one another. You could feel the dampness on your sweater from his shirt, and your bare legs brushing against the cotton of his sleep pants, which only overwhelmed you more, knowing it was going to be a challenge to stop this from going too far.
His hand splayed out on your back, twitching against the fabric that covered it as you parted your lips for him, allowing his tongue to brush against yours with the softest flicker of hesitation, tasting you like he was drinking something sacred. The breath he let out against your mouth made your skin prickle beneath your sweater, and it only encouraged your response.
You angled your mouth to his, encouraging him to continue, feeling him follow suit in an instant, matching your energy bit by bit, syncing with the way you moved against him. When your hand slid further into his hair, and curled within the damp strands, gently tugging, he let out the smallest, softest moanâit was so quiet and desperate it sounded like it had been buried within him for years. It made your head spin hearing it, and it only made you shift yourself towards him even more, feeling his thigh nudging between your legs so the both of you can completely mesh together. It was such a subtle move, but it lit up every nerve ending in your body like it was nothing.
Bobâs hand slid beneath the hem of your sweater, craving the feeling of your skin beneath his touch. His fingers traced the small of your spine, barely putting enough pressure on it, yet he still managed to send shivers through your body. He was getting bolder, but kept his awareness at the forefront, like he was cataloging every reaction you gave him, terrified that he might cross an invisible line and ruin the moment.
You felt the muscles in his arm shift as he pulled you even closer, putting more pressure between your bodies until you felt every rise and fall of his chest, and his heartbeat pulsed through you. His knee shifted again, nudging further between your thighs, pressing it gently into the thin cotton fabric that covered your most sensitive area, eliciting a gasp from you now. You could feel yourself falter control for a moment, moving your hips just a little to test the friction that you wanted, and thatâs when you both realized just how far this could goâand how close you already were to getting there.
His hand tensed against your back, and the kiss slowed down, until he found the correct moment to pull back, just a few inches. His lips were still parted, only now they were swollen and wet with saliva. He was out of breath, and you mirrored the same sentiment, as the both of you tried to even your racing hearts before they exploded. His pupils were dilated, and in the dimmed lighting you could only see a faint glisten of blue that rimmed the darkness that took over, the burn was there, the want was there, but there was the looming fear that you both were going from zero to one hundred really quickly, and thatâs when regrets could be made, and neither of you wanted that.
ââŠWe canât do thisâŠâ He whispered, his voice cracking from being the first one to speak. You nodded faintly, your fingers still toying with his hair, reluctant to let go completely, but understanding him.
âI know,â You murmured, âNot like thisâŠNot tonight.â You clarified. He closed his eyes, a soft exhale brushing your lips as his fingers twitched against your pulse point on your neck again.
âItâs not that I donât want to,â He added quietly, âGod I doâŠYou have no idea.â
âI know,â You said again, running your thumb along his cheek, soothing the skin there, âMe tooâŠI want to as wellâŠBut weâre not ready. Especially after being in the headspace that you were in a few minutes ago.â He nodded slowly.
âI donât want it to be something that will be confused for a moment of distraction.â You stared at him, hearing how serious he was about it, âAnd I donât want to ruin anything.â He added softly, opening his eyes again to look at you.
âYouâre not ruining anything, weâre just pressing pauseâŠAnd thatâs completely fine, and itâs the best decision to make for right now.â He gave a small, nervous smile at that and leaned forward to rest his forehead against yours, âWeâll talk more about it laterâŠBut for now how about we just relax hmm?â He let out a shaky breath, the heat from it hitting your lips and invading your mouth for just a split second.
âYeahâŠIâd like that.â You smiled faintly, as your bodies untangled just a bit from one another, removing the both of you from the intimate position you had found yourself in moments before. His knee shifted out from between your legs, and rested against them instead, letting the tension unravel and disappear slowly.
He wrapped both arms around you now, carefully noting your injury, and you folded yourself into his chest, letting your hand rest on his ribs as he pulled the blanket up to shield the both of you.
You both stayed there, nose to nose, breath to breath, hearts beating unevenly against one another until sleep came over you like a harsh wave.

husband!kageyama taking care of your nails for you.
âYou know, when you told me you were going to clip my nails, I didnât think you meant it seriously.â
Kageyama gave a small grunt, not looking up. âI always mean it seriously.â
âThatâs what worries me a little.â
He blinked, pausing to glance at you. âWhy?â
âBecause you have your âactual game faceâ on. Like youâre about to hit the ball through someoneâs soulâmy poor fingerâs soul.â
His brow furrowed. âThis is delicate work,â he said, as if it were obvious. âI have to focus. And Iâm careful.â
You laughed, watching him lift your hand like it was a precious object. He took a long moment to examine your fingersâturning them slightly, his thumb brushing along your knuckles in slow circles. Itâs gentle and careful, and it warms your heart to see your husband so loving like this.
âYou have a hangnail here,â he muttered, frowning. âWere you picking at it again?â
âI got nervous during that meeting yesterday.â
He clicked his tongue quietly. âStop doing that. Youâll hurt yourself.â
âI didnât know Iâd be getting a full checkup afterward!â
âYou donât need to be nervous. Youâre⊠good at what you do.â His voice dropped a little as he said it, like it embarrassed him to offer praise so directly. âIâve heard you on the phone. Youâre smart. And brave.â
You blinked at him, caught off guard. Your smile softened. âThatâs the sweetest thing youâve said all week.â
âI said you looked pretty yesterday.â
âYou said I âlooked rested.ââ
ââŠOh. Well, you look even prettier today.â
You laughed, and it made his ears turn pink.
He clipped your nails gently, his hands steady, fingers long and precise. He held each of yours securely, guiding you through the process like a practiced routine. It wasnât rushed; Kageyama took his time, carefully aligning the clipper, checking the angle twice before making a cut. After each nail, he paused to brush the trimmed bits into a little ceramic bowl they kept nearby.
âDo you do this often?â You asked after a long pause. âFor yourself, I mean?â
He nodded once. âEvery few days. I have to. My fingers are everything. If I donât keep my nails short and clean, they can catch on the ball or split. Itâs stupid how much one little crack can mess with your whole game.â
You gave him a look, eyes wide with something like quiet awe. âYou take this so seriously.â
âItâs part of taking care of myself,â he said, and his gaze lifted to yours. âAnd now itâs part of taking care of you too.â
Your breath caught for just a moment. How did you ever get so lucky to snag this man?
Kageyama picked up the small file next and began to smooth the edges with slow, even strokes. The motion was rhythmic and tender. You watched the way he focused so intently on the taskâthe slight pinch in his brow, the way his lower lip pressed into a thin line when he was trying to be especially careful.
âYou always do this when youâre nervous,â you said softly, brushing your free hand against his hair.
âDo what?â
âZone in. Like the world disappears except the thing youâre trying to control.â
Kageyama was quiet for a moment, then exhaled. âThatâs⊠true.â
âAre you nervous right now?â
He hesitated. âNot nervous. Just⊠I want to get it right.â
âBecause itâs me?â
He gave the tiniest nod, eyes still trained on your thumbnail. âYouâre important. I donât want to mess anything up.â
You leaned in, resting your forehead against his for a beat. âYou wonât.â
The silence between you grew comfortable. The kind of quiet that speaks in glances and gentle touches. After he filed the last nail, he gently ran his thumb across each fingertip, checking for snags, tiny splinters, anything he might have missed. Then he reached for the cuticle oil and unscrewed the little bottle with a slow, almost reverent motion.
âIâm going to massage this in,â he said, almost shylyâyet still determined.
You nodded, watching him carefully as he dabbed a small dot of oil on each nail, then rubbed it in with soft, circular motions. His touch was warm, so warm, like the atmosphere during mornings in a bakery. The way he held your hand wasnât just carefulâit was reverent. As if your hands were something sacred. Something worth protecting.
âI like your hands,â he said suddenly.
You scrunched your nose, barely. âReally?â
âTheyâre soft. And warm. And⊠I know them.â His voice dropped lower, murmuring. âI know the way you hold my wrist when Iâm anxious. The way you press your palm to my back when I come home late. How you run your fingers through my hair when I canât sleep.â
You swallowed. Your chest ached in that lovely, terrible way when someone says exactly what you needed to hear without knowing it.
âI want to take care of them,â he added, brushing his thumb along the side of your pinky. âBecause they take care of me.â
âTobioâŠâ
He looked up then, eyes a little wide like he was afraid heâd gone too far. But you leaned forward before he could pull back and kissed him softly. When you pulled away, your voice was barely a whisper. âYou are the gentlest man Iâve ever known.â
He shook his head, a breath of laughter escaping. âIâm not.â
âYou are. Maybe not with words. Or⊠you know, strangers. But with me? Youâre gentle in all the ways that matter.â
You sat like that for a long momentâhands still entwined, foreheads nearly touching, the world outside fading into white noise. Then Kageyama cleared his throat. âI could⊠maybe paint them next time? If you want?â
Your eyes lit up. âYouâd paint my nails?â
He gave an awkward little shrug. âIf you like it. Iâd have to practice.â
You hummed, pulling him forward into another kiss, lingering and full of affection. âYouâre already perfect.â
Kageyama flushed from the base of his neck to the tips of his ears once again. Heâs so easily flusteredâitâs almost illegal to be this cute, you think.

***************************** To configure an AWS billing alarm, you need to set up Amazon CloudWatch Alarms. These alarms can be triggered based on defined thresholds, allowing you to monitor your AWS usage and get notified when your estimated charges exceed a certain limit. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to configure an AWS billing alarm:
Step 1: Sign in to the AWS Management Console Go to the AWS Management Console and sign in to your AWS account.
Step 2: Navigate to the CloudWatch Console In the AWS Management Console, find and click on the "Services" dropdown. Under the "Management & Governance" section, click on "CloudWatch." Step 3: Access Billing Metrics In the CloudWatch console, find and click on "Billing" in the left navigation pane. Select "Billing" from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Create a Billing Alarm In the "Billing" dashboard, click on the "Create Alarm" button.
In the "Create Alarm" wizard, you'll see a list of metrics. Select the "Total Estimated Charge" metric.
Choose the appropriate statistic, such as "Maximum."
Set the conditions for the alarm. For example:
Threshold Type: Static Whenever: "Total Estimated Charge" is greater than [your specified amount]. Define actions for the alarm. This includes specifying an SNS (Simple Notification Service) topic to notify you when the alarm is triggered. If you haven't set up an SNS topic, you'll need to create one.
Provide a name and description for your alarm.
Click "Create Alarm" to save your configuration.
Step 5: Set Up Notifications If you haven't created an SNS topic:
Open the SNS console in a new tab. In the left navigation pane, click on "Topics" and then "Create topic." Provide a name and display name for your topic. Under "Access Policy," choose "Advanced" and add a policy that allows CloudWatch to publish to this topic. Click "Create topic." Go back to the CloudWatch console.
In the left navigation pane, click on "Alarms." Select your alarm from the list. Click the "Actions" tab. Under the "Actions" section, click "Add notification." Select the SNS topic you created. Click "Update Alarm."
Step 6: Test the Alarm You can test the alarm by intentionally exceeding the billing threshold you set. This will trigger the alarm and send a notification to the specified SNS topic.
By following these steps, you've configured an AWS billing alarm to monitor your estimated charges and receive notifications when they exceed a defined limit. Adjust the alarm threshold and notification settings based on your specific needs and budget considerations.

A Pawn Once More
Character: Haymitch Abernathy
Requested: No
Type: Angst/ Fluff
Summary: For years, Haymitch has kept his biggest secret buriedâhis love for the one person he couldnât afford to lose. But when the Quarter Quell announces that tributes will be reaped from the pool of Victors, his worst nightmare becomes reality.
A.N: Scene from Catching Fire. No, I haven't read Sunrise on the Reaping, so please, No Spoilers. It's a Female!Reader.
Age Gap: Haymitch is 41 and Reader is in her 20s (preferably 25)
Part 2: Here
Part 3: Here
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome. As you know, in every Quarter Quell, we do things a little differently. To commemorate the 75th Hunger Games, the third Quarter Quell, we have decided to add a new twist to the tradition."
"The tributes will be reaped from the pool of existing victors."
The air was thick with the screams and desperate cries of your family, their voices echoing in your ears as your own face twisted in horror. This wasnât how it was supposed to be.
After surviving the 66th Hunger Games, after securing your place in history and your districtâs fleeting pride, you were supposed to live out your life in something resembling peace. Youâd be called back each year to mentor, yes, but never again would you be dragged into the arena. Never again would you face the bloodbath.
But now? Now you were nothing more than a pawn again.
You had to leave. You had to run. Your little brotherâs tiny fingers clung desperately to you, his sobs vibrating through your chest as your motherâyour motherâthrew things in fury, her heartbreak spilling over. Every instinct told you to stay, to comfort them, but you knew better. You had to leave or youâd lose your mind. Or worse, youâd drag them down into your nightmare.
You ran. The pounding of your feet against the dirt was deafening, a frantic rhythm of escape, but your body couldnât outrun the reality clawing at your soul. You ran until your legs gave out and you collapsed, crumbling to your knees, gasping for air. It wasnât supposed to be like this. It had to be alright. It had to be. But deep down, you knew it wasnât.
You wiped away your tears, your breath ragged and uneven, thoughts spinning wildly. Out of the eight victors from your district, only you and one of your mentors were women. And you werenât about to let your mentor go through the Games again. There was no chance. You knew the nightmares sheâd endured, the scars that marked her body. Like you, she had survived, but she wasnât as capable as she once was when she won during the 47th Games. At least you still had a fighting chance.
Your mind turned to your family next. You just needed them to promise you one thing. They couldnât watch. They couldnât watch you die. It was the only mercy you could give them. You couldnât let them see that.
Your death would rip them apart, you knew it. Your mother would be left without her daughter. Your brother would grow up without his older sister to protect him. Your father, already a shadow of the man he once was, would be broken, lost in the absence of his âprincess.â And HaymitchâHaymitch.
The thought of him hit you like a physical blow, your heart constricting in your chest. Heâs a victor too. A chilling realization gripped you like ice in your veins. He could be reaped. He could be sent to fight.
Tears spilled freely, hot and relentless, as you gasped, your breath stuttering. The weight of it crushed you. He could be reaped. And that terrifying thought shattered you more than the fear of your own reaping ever could.
You let out a screamâgut-wrenching, heart-shatteringâyour body shaking as it tore through you. It was a sound so full of anguish, so desperate, it seemed to rip apart the very fabric of the world around you. Haymitch. He could be reaped. And with that, all your nightmares, every awful memory, every twisted fear, came to life.
-----
âGet me that damn tablet,â Haymitch barked, shoving his way through the train car in search of the device. His mind was a tangled mess, his body still buzzing from the alcohol heâd consumed in an attempt to dull the gnawing pain.Â
The last few days had been a blur, but he could still feel the sharp sting of the announcement ringing in his ears. The tributes... the victors... and his own twisted fate. He shouldâve been focusing on how heâd somehow managed to cheat death. Instead, his mind was consumed with one thingâand one personâfrom District 5. You.
When the announcement came about the victors being reaped, he hadnât reacted with surprise. No, heâd gone into a frenzy. Heâd torn apart his house, broken everything in sight, and drunk himself into oblivion. His fingers had clutched his most prized possession with a desperation he couldn't explainâa beautiful gold chain, wrapped tightly around his finger, holding the most precious ring.Â
The night before, Katniss had begged himâno, pleadedâfor him to volunteer for Peeta during the reaping. He had agreed. Not because he wanted to, hell no. But because he had to be there if you were reaped. And now, as Peeta decided to take matters into his own hands, Haymitch found himself thrust into the role of mentor. It infuriated him. He didnât want this. He didnât want you in the arena again.
The other districts shouldâve already been reaped by now, and his mind was frantic, itching to know if you had been chosen. Unfortunately, heâd been trapped in the mentor role, unable to watch the reaping unfold. Now, though, he was pushing everyone aside, his hands shaking as he aggressively swiped across the tablet screen, searching for answers.
âWhat's his deal?â Katniss scoffed, watching Haymitch swipe frantically at the tablet.
Effie, doing her best to keep the secret Haymitch had entrusted her with, attempted to downplay his urgency. âOh, heâs just trying to see which victors got reaped. Donât worry about it yet.â
âI canât find it. Turn on the damn video on the TV,â he snapped, his patience gone. Effie scrambled, finally finding the footage and flicking it on.
As the video began, Haymitch subconsciously started playing with the gold band around his neck, his fingers caressing it absently as his heart hammered in his chest. The room fell silent as the broadcast beganâDistrict 5âs reaping.
"Welcome, welcome," the escortâs overly cheery voice rang out, her ridiculous outfit blinding in its absurdity. "As we celebrate the 75th anniversary and the 3rd Quarter Quell of the Hunger Games, as always, ladies firstâŠâ
Haymitchâs leg started bouncing in nervous anticipation, his pulse quickening. District 5 had eight victors, but only two were womenâand you were one of them.
He couldnât help it. His eyes locked onto the screen, unable to tear himself away. You stood there, dressed in black, your face a perfect mask of stoicism. Your eyes were red, your pain carefully hidden beneath a practiced, blank expressionâthe one youâd perfected from years of surviving. Heâd taught you that. How to hide everything. How to show nothing. How to survive.
He watched you hold hands with your mentor, the two of you standing in quiet solidarity. A tiny part of him hoped that it would be youâthe one they called forward, so your mentor could volunteer for you. He knew she would. You just had to let her.
The escortâs voice cut through his thoughts, though he barely heard it now. She gave both you and your mentor a small, sad smile before unfolding the slip of paper. âThe female tribute of District 5âŠâ she began, and the words hung in the air like a death sentence, âAbigail Winston.â
Effieâs sigh of relief was audible, probably thinking that you were home free, that everything was going to be okay. But Haymitch knew better. He knew you. And thatâs why his entire body tensed in an instant. The anger surged through his veins like wildfire, hot and uncontrollable.
And then he saw your movement. The way you stepped forward. No.
Before your mentor could even make a move, your voice steady but fierce rang out, âI volunteer as tribute.â
Time seemed to slow. Haymitchâs heart stopped, the world around him blurring as he felt everything heâd been holding together shatter. His breath came in ragged, panicked gasps as the glass in his hand fell to the floor, shattering into a thousand pieces. The tablet in his hands followed, crashing to the ground in a violent thud.
Katniss and Peeta exchanged confused glances, unsure of who you were or why Haymitch had reacted like that. Effieâs tears fell silently, a mix of sorrow and disbelief. But before anyone could speak, Haymitch turned away, his mind consumed by rage and heartbreak. He didnât look back. He couldnât.
He stormed down the train, away from them all, his hands clawing at the air as if trying to rip the world apart. Every part of him, every inch of his being, was focused on one thought: You. You had volunteered. You had sealed your fate. And now, all of his nightmares were coming true.
-----
Haymitch wished he were drunk. He wished the alcohol could drown out the aching pain of having you step into that arena again. It wasnât fair.
You barely had two years together. Two years of being an official couple, and yet it felt like it wasnât enough. Heâd first met you at the end of your Victorâs Tour, when you decided to escape the attention and hide at the bar. You outdrank him that night, which, frankly, was impressive.
At first, he never expected to care for you. You were just another survivor, bound to the same cruel fate as him. But then, over time, as you grew up and proved yourself in ways he never imagined, he couldnât help but fall in love.
You were 15 years younger, and he had always kept his distance, hiding his feelings behind a wall of friendship. But as the years passed, and you all met yearly for the Games as mentors, one thing led to another. A night full of too much alcohol, too many unspoken feelingsâand before he knew it, you had shared a night neither of you would ever forget.
The next morning, you confessed what had been lingering beneath the surface for so long. It took him months to work up the courage to ask you out, battling his own demons of self-doubt and guilt.
And then, for two beautiful years, you two had kept it secret. Notes passed in shadows, stolen kisses, quiet smiles, and letters filled with raw emotion. Two years of sneaking around, being completely, utterly in love.
And now, it was all coming to an end.
Effie found him passed out in the trainâs aisle, and without hesitation, she put him to bed, understanding that he needed space.
The next morning, Haymitch tried to seek you out. He wanted to see you, to make sure you were okay, but his duties as a mentor took priority. Effie begged him to focus, to speak to Katniss and Peeta first, and then find you. He was torn between his heart and his responsibilities. And in the end, Effie dragged him to the kids.
He spent that day drinking and half-heartedly trying to teach them about the importance of allies.
âFinnick Odair, right?â Katniss asked, as they went through the list of reaped victors.
He nodded, pointing to the screen. âYes, he won at fourteenâyoungest victor ever. Extremely humble.â
âYou're kidding, right?â Katniss scoffed.
âYes, Iâm kidding.â He flipped his hair dramatically. âHeâs a... peacock. A total preener, but heâs the Capitol darling. They love him here. Charming, smart, and very skilled at combatâespecially in water.â
Peeta leaned forward, glancing at the screen. âWhat about weaknesses?â
âOne person, Mags.â A frail, wrinkled woman appeared on the screen. âShe volunteered for Annie. Mags was his mentor, basically raised him. If Finnickâs trying to protect her, it exposes him.â
Katniss stared at the screen, watching the woman bravely volunteer for the young girl in tears. âA guy like that has to know sheâs not going to make it. I bet when it really comes down to it, he wonât protect her.â
Sadness flickered in Haymitchâs eyes. âWell, Katniss, I just hope when she goes... she goes quickly. Sheâs a wonderful lady.â
He pressed a button on the tablet, knowing exactly who would appear next, but his body tensed involuntarily as the screen flickered to life.
"District Five: Mason Cover and Y/N L/N." Haymitch stared at the screen, his eyes locked on you, unable to look away.
"She's the girl we saw on the train," Katniss said, sensing the weight of Haymitchâs reaction. "What's her story?"
Haymitch glanced at Katniss before downing his drink. âShe won the 66th Games at 16. The last hour of the Games, there were five tributes left. She killed each one of them single-handedlyâarrows, spear, you name it. Extremely skillful, resourceful. And beloved by many of our victors.â
He pointed to Mason Cover, âMason won the 55th Games at 18. Lethal in hand-to-hand combat. The last 30 minutes of those Games were a triple threat match. Those two are close friends. You want them as allies. And if you trust me... trust them. They're who you should be allies with.â He repeated, his gaze locked on Katniss. âTrust me.â
âWho is she to you?â Katniss asked bluntly, her voice cutting through the tension. âWe all saw the reaping. We saw the way you reacted. Now you want to team up with her... why?â
Haymitch squinted at her, his fingers subconsciously playing with the chain around his neck. âShe's just a friend. I've known her for years. I know both of them. Good people. Trustworthy people.â
âI donât believe you,â Katniss retorted.
âKatniss,â Peeta interjected, sensing the simmering tension. "Let it go."
But before anyone could speak, Effie burst through the door, her heels clicking sharply against the floor as she hurried toward Haymitch. "Haymitch, thank God you're here!" she said, voice strained with urgency. She then saw Katniss and Peeta standing in the room, and immediately faltered. "Oh... uh... Haymitch, you're needed outside of this room." She gestured quickly toward the door, trying to keep the situation under wraps, hoping the kids wouldn't notice.
Haymitch caught the hint, and without a word, he practically flew out of the room. Before the door even clicked shut behind him, he was pulled into an embrace. Your arms.
And for a moment, everything around him seemed to stop.
"Haymitch..." you whispered, your voice trembling as tears flooded your face. After days of terror, the weight of the world finally seemed to melt away in his arms. He was here. You needed him more than anything.
"Y/N..." He squeezed you tightly, his arms wrapping around you like a lifeline. His heart hammered in his chest, sobering instantly from the haze of alcohol. The warmth of your skin, the sweet scent of you, and the soft wetness of your tears soaking through his shirt â this was real. You were here, with him... for now.
He pulled back slightly, needing to see your face, his hands gently cupping your tear-streaked cheeks. He smiled at you, the corners of his mouth trembling with something he couldn't quite control. "Hi, sweetheart," he whispered, his voice breaking.
It hurt him to see you like thisâeyes red and swollen, your hands shaking, a look of grim acceptance in your gaze. The kind of acceptance that made his heart shatter. What had you accepted? What were you preparing for? That thought alone gnawed at him.
"It's going to be okay. Iâve got you, pretty girl." His voice cracked with desperation, the words pouring out in a rush. "Iâll get you sponsors, and you'll be okay. Then when this is over, we can go back to my district, or yours, and live the rest of our lives together. Iâm not going anywhere. Not now. Not ever." He whispered it, desperate for you to believe him, for you to feel safe, for the horrible weight of your future to somehow lift.
But then, you shook your head, sobbing. "You can't... Katniss and Peeta are your responsibility. You need to help them. You need to save them." The words broke out in a cry, your eyes locking with his in raw, painful clarity. He shook his head, his heart sinking.
"No," he muttered firmly, "Iâm not leaving you alone for this." His hands gripped your shoulders, holding you as if he could keep you safe, as if he could protect you from the arena, from everything.
"Iâll be alright," you tried to smile, wiping away the fresh tears that fell. "You donât need to worry about me." You forced the smile, trying to push him, to focus on the kids, on them. You knew the truth, knew the game was rigged. Katniss needed to be victorious; you were just collateral damage, nothing more.
Your hand reached up to caress his face, your thumb tracing the rough outline of his jaw. "The kids need you, my love. You have to choose them over me. You have to choose Katniss over me. She... she is important."
"You're important." His voice cracked as he tried to hold on to some semblance of control, but it shattered as soon as he looked at you. "You're everything to me. You're my world. My wife... You donât know what youâre asking me to do..." His voice broke, the words too raw, too heavy. "I canât leave you in that arena. I wonât. I will save you."
You stared at him, tears running freely down both of your faces. He looked at you in disbelief, his eyes wide with an agony he couldn't hide. You had accepted your death, but he couldnât. Not now. Not like this. He had already lost so much. He wouldnât lose you too. Not like this. Not again.
"You donât understand," he whispered, his voice raw, breaking with the weight of everything he couldnât say. He shook his head, disbelief flickering in his eyes. "I canât let them take you from me." His mind was already spinning, heart racing with frantic thoughtsâhow could he get more sponsors? Who could he talk to in the Capitol? There had to be a way. Anything to keep you alive. "Why the hell did you volunteer? WhyâJesus Christ, why you?" The words cracked through his chest, his heart shattering with the pain of it. He couldnât breathe. Couldnât think. He was losing you, and he couldnât stop it.
You reached up to cup his face, your thumb gently brushing over the rough, scarred lines of his cheek, your touch a silent plea. You saw the desperation in his eyesâthe panic, the fear that he couldnât hide. Your voice trembled as you whispered, "Haymitch... I promise you, Iâll be okay. Iâll be fine." The words tasted like ash on your tongue, but you said them anyway, because you needed him to believe it. You couldnât bear the thought of him falling apart, not when you knew what was coming. You had to be strong for him, even if it broke you to lie like that.
And then, with everything breaking inside him, you leaned in, pressing your lips to his in a kiss that spoke of everything: grief, love, fear, and an unbearable desperation. It was rough and frantic, a mixture of tears and longing. The kiss was an apology, a plea, and a final, desperate act of love.
What neither of you knew was that Katniss, Peeta, and Effie were watching from the crack in the door, their eyes wide with shock.Â
Haymitch has a wife.
And she was about to die.

âżă ă . `đ` ă
‷ ok so. first of all. he doesnât think he falls in love. he thinks he allows himself to be in love. yes. thatâs the distinction. he permits the emotional vulnerability to occur. like itâs a security clearance. like the state department signed off on it. like itâs a diplomatic treaty. love with damian is not some flower blooming. it is a classified operation that got out of hand. oops
‷ and HEâS SO IRRITATING ABOUT YOUR SAFETY. like you want to go to a concert alone and heâs like âno. the venue has three open exits and a history of overcrowding. iâll accompany you or youâre not going.â and youâre like đ and heâs like đż
‷ he doesnât compliment you like a normal person. he says things like âyouâre the only one with a functioning brain in this cityâ and âyour genetic makeup is statistically superiorâ and âif i had to pick a partner for an international espionage mission iâd pick you.â thanks?? i think???
‷ dude. alright. listen. you have to understand. this is a boy raised by assassins and billionaires and batman. like heâs not normal. like if you try to do something normal with him he malfunctions. like âdo you want to come over and watch a movieâ turns into a whole debate about the nature of narrative and also suddenly heâs ordering a projector and rearranging your furniture and asking if the lighting is optimal. like your honor. we were going to watch legally blonde. relax.
‷ he is in love with you but heâs in denial about it for the first 3â6 business months. he doesnât say anything. he just starts appearing. you look up and heâs already there. he claims he was âin the area.â he was not. he has never been in the area. he took a grappling hook and an imported black car and made himself be in the area.
‷ anyways he is sooooooo in love and SOOOOOOOO bad at dealing with it. like yes he grew up training with the league of assassins but no he has not developed a single healthy coping mechanism about feelings. NONE. zero. zilch. love is the final boss. and heâs underleveled
‷ long stares. long long long. awkwardly long. youâll be brushing your teeth and look up and heâs just. standing there. arms crossed. watching. âyouâre quite graceful. even at mundane tasks.â ok damian what the hell. brush your own teeth and stop making me blush at 7am
‷ heâs like. weirdly formal?? like youâll be sitting on his lap playing animal crossing and heâll be like âyouâre very dear to me.â and youâll be like ok first of all why do you sound like an 18th century count and second of all WHY DID THAT MAKE ME BLUSH
‷ he calls you beloved. like thatâs his go-to. he does not say âbabe.â he does not say âsweetie.â he says beloved like he is writing from the war trenches. LMAO. like heâs penning a letter with a quill. âmy dearest beloved, war is hell. gotham is colder without you. i miss your lip balm.â
‷ ALSO he is so clingy. but in his own damian kind of way. like he will never straight up say âi miss youâ but heâll appear outside your window at 3am because you didnât text back. âi was in the area.â no you werenât damian
‷ and when you fight. oh my god you fight. hoo boy. because heâs STUBBORN. and youâre you. and heâll say something awful and cold and youâll slam the door and not talk for a week and heâll act all smug but heâll show up at your window like âare you done being dramatic?â with a single perfect peach because you once said you liked them and he never forgot. he does end up apologizing formally tho like âi was... wrong. and unkind. i apologize.â
‷ even if you don't fight crime he will still buy you a 6000 dollar custom-made tactical suit because âi noticed you lacked proper armor.â itâs black. with little green accents. matches his. you cried. he blinked and said âthereâs a grappling hook too.â you cried harder. he looked vaguely alarmed and offered you tea
‷ lowkey kinda unpopular opinion (i think???).....buttttt once you realllyyy get to know him,,, heâs v big on touch. but only in private (!!! he doesn't do pda tbh). arm around your waist when no oneâs looking. hand on your lower back. gloved fingers brushing yours like heâs not thinking about it (he is). forehead touches. pulling you into his hoodie. tucking your legs over his lap while he reads. being completely silent while you cry but holding you like heâll kill whatever made you feel this way. because he will.
‷ heâs not really a hearts and flowers guy. but like. heâs very much a âi broke a guyâs jaw for looking at you too longâ guy. very âi memorized your class schedule and made sure no one sits next to youâ guy. very âi learned how to make your favorite soup and now iâm mad youâre not impressedâ guy. very âi installed a new security system in your apartment. no you donât get a say. yes iâm keeping the passcodeâ guy.
dates??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ok. deserves its own section.
dates with him are like. war strategy. no such thing as casual with him. no. no no. no. everything is intentional. everything is curated. calculated. coordinated. he's like "i made a reservation." and it's at some place with a 3-month waitlist and a single-item menu and food that looks like pebbles. and ur like âcould we not have just gotten tacos??â and heâs like âyou deserve better than tacos.â .......................................................he says it in the most offhanded way but ur already spinning. ur already sending ur soul to orbit.
like it can be âi booked us fencing lessons in case you get kidnapped againâ or âi acquired the rooftop of that patisserie you like because you said you liked the view.â like THANK YOU BATBOY WHAT THE FUCK
he doesnât --> ask <-- (keyword) you out. no no no. he **TELLS*** you. âwe have dinner reservations. 7 sharp. wear something warm.â and youâre like. okay??? damn?? whoâs we??? and then itâs just him and you and some obscure albanian place in gotham that âreminds him of a time he interrogated someone in tirana.â romantic!!!
theyâre never normal. ever. like my guy why r we eating in an exclusive rooftop garden u rented for me.... and why the actual fuck does it technically belongs to a russian ambassador ???????!!!! HHELLOO?
but also. also. as much as u go to eccentric,,, expensive,, veryyy planned out dates .. you still have dates where u sit on rooftops. you eat mangoes. you say nothing for twenty minutes because heâs comfortable in silence. because you are too. because he touches your ankle with his and that says more than anything.
‷ he loves graphs. heâs so... annoying. he has a favorites spreadsheet for restaurants. and another for your moods. and another for gifts you've liked. u found it once. he closed the tab too fast. embarrassed. blushing. you teased him for a week.
‷ once you cried on his shirt and apologized for it and he just. looked at you. like loooooookedddddddd at you. and said âyouâre allowed to fall apart. iâll be here when you do.â and u almost blacked out.
‷ he talks about the future like itâs inevitable. âwhen we get a place.â âwhen we go to xyz.â âwhen you graduate.â he says it like thereâs no version of life that doesnât include you. like he canât even imagine it. like itâs already written.
‷ he doesnât say âiâm proud of you.â he says: âof course you did. i expected nothing less.â (but the corners of his mouth twitch and his ears turn red. heâs proud. heâs so proud.)
‷ he gets weird about your birthday. like. insane. he pretends he doesnât care. he acts like itâs âjust another day.â but you walk into your room and thereâs a leather-bound copy of your favorite book with your initials embossed in gold. and tickets to an exhibit he overheard you mention one time six months ago. and a note. handwritten. in flawless cursive. that just says: âfor everything you are. - d.â stop it damian. iâm going to cry into a cupcake.
‷ he has no chill. ZERO chill. you are sneezing and heâs like âhave you had vitamin C today.â someone looks at you funny and heâs like âiâll break their jaw.â you say youâre cold and he wordlessly hands you his cape. the WHOLE cape. youâre drowning. he does not care. he thinks itâs cute
‷ he glares at anyone who flirts with you like heâs deciding whether to break their legs or just ruin them socially. (he will do both. eventually. heâs efficient like that.) and when you tease him for being jealous heâs like âi do not experience jealousy. i experience possessiveness.â ok medieval knight whatever
‷ also?? he TRIES to be cool and detached but the moment you compliment him? he malfunctions. like you say âyou look handsome todayâ and he scoffs but his ears are red. FULL tomato. âtch. youâre foolish. i look the same every day.â sir you are glowing. you are combusting
‷ and andddd heâs so so so tender in private. like âi cleaned your shoes for youâ tenderness. âi annotated your favorite book with my commentaryâ tenderness. âi fixed the loose button on your coatâ tenderness. he will never SAY âi love youâ like a normal person. he will just DO THINGS. and STARE at you. a LOT
‷ OH and when you get sick it is OVER. done. youâre in bed and suddenly thereâs like. imported raw honey. five different teas. a humidifier. night vision cameras installed in case of intruders. he is kneeling at your bedside like a knight. he wonât let you get up for water. âyou are in recovery. iâll bring it to you. stay still.â ok. nurse ratched. love you
‷ also he pets your hair like youâre a cat. like he will gently run his fingers through it while you talk about your day. doesnât even realize heâs doing it. you mention it and he goes âyour hair calms me.â you melt. obviously. puddle on the floor. he smirks. he knows. bastard
‷ HE KEEPS THINGS. like. a little doodle you made on a napkin? framed. the necklace you left at his place once? he wears it under his uniform. he keeps it a secret obvi. you didnât know for 6 months. cried when you somehow found out. obviously
‷ he texts you "do not walk home alone. wait." and then appears. literally appears. like the wind shifts and suddenly heâs there with a helmet in his hand and a scowl on his face and a thousand unspoken thoughts like âi will kill for you. i will die for you. i will beat up your physics teacher if he makes you cry again.â
‷ heâll buy you a 200 dollar first edition of something obscure and then be like âitâs not a gift. i just thought it should be in your collection. donât get emotional.â meanwhile ur emotional. ur on the floor. ur sobbing in a barnes & noble tote bag. he knows. he smirks. asshole.
‷ but he notices everything. if you get a haircut. if your eyeliner is different. if your tone was off. if youâre chewing on your nail again. he sees it all. and he remembers. and heâs quietly doing things about it in the background. like refilling your meds or slipping snacks into your bag or hacking into your school portal and fixing a grade because âthat teacher was clearly incompetentâ
‷ also. he doesnât flirt. he argues. youâll be like âi like this songâ and heâll be like âyour taste is objectively inferiorâ and then buy you front row tickets to that artistâs next concert. heâll say itâs to âbroaden your cultural exposureâ but heâs watching you the whole concert like youâre the show. donât let him lie.

#MULTI â The excuse he uses to hold your hand wc: 0.7 fluff, teasing, established relationship, hand holding !! â How's he gonna get out of this one?
Reblogs are greatly appreciated !!
It catches you by surpriseâ where you had both just been walking along, enjoying the atmosphere, the touch of his fingers weaving between yours is something you hadn't been expecting.
It wasn't unwelcome, though. Far from it.
The tangent you had been rambling on about trails away like leaves in the wind as you blink down at the hand that gasps yours securely. Beside you, he carries on as if there were no such change, even having the gall to raise his eyebrow when he notices you falling silent.
"You were saying?" he asks, as if to prompt you back into your ramble, but you practically bulldoze over his faux nonchalance by squeezing his hand and waving it between you two.
"Oh, look at you, being so forward," you tease, swinging your hands back and forth. "I'm not at all complaining, but, well, I didn't think you'd be so bold."
He huffs at you a bit, eyes narrowed in an expression that you'd dare say is petulant. Maybe even flustered. The first thing out of his mouth isâ
"It looked like you wanted to hold hands. I'm just saving you the trouble of asking." He says, gaze not meeting your own, but hand still firmly holding yours. You have to fight back an amused smile.
When you teasingly try to let your hand slip out from his, relaxing your grip, his own immediately tightens. His narrowed, accusatory gaze snaps to yours so fast that for a second you worry he might injure his neck.
"Uh huh, you keep telling yourself that," you tease, sidling up close enough that you can nudge him with your shoulder.
It's cute, you think, how he immediately leans closer to you when you come near. Like he's not even aware he does it, like his body just wants to be closer to you. When he realizes what happened, there's a moment where his eyes widenâ then his gaze is trained on the path in front, decidedly not making eye contact. Cute, you think again.
"i like holding hands with you, you know" you tell him tenderly, quietlyâ a sweet secret just between the two of you. You squeeze his hand and, unhesitatingly, he squeezes back. "I wouldn't mind doing it more often."
And oh, he hopes you don't notice the heat to his cheeks, and the darkening of the tips to his ears. Hopes you don't notice the quirk to the edges of his lips that he just. can't. keep. down. Hopes you don't make out how damn pleased he sounds when he says, "If that's what you want," knowing that it's exactly what he wants, too.
â Scaramouche / Wanderer, Xiao, Cyno, Boothill, Dr. Ratio, Alhaitham
"Why? Am I not allowed to?" Comes his teasing response, making you roll your eyes.
"You know that's not what I meant," you grumble, playfully punching his arm, knowing that you did little to no actual damage. Still, he pretends to wince and rub the area you hit, grimacing.
"No need to get violent," he says, "You're hurting my feelings, love."
"You're awful," you tell him.
"And yet you've still yet to let go of my hand," he reminds you all-too-happily, raising said hand to his lips and pressing a kiss to your knuckles.
At the gesture, a tingle runs up your spine and butterflies come to life in your stomachâ you wonder if he can hear the frantic pulse in your wrist, if he can see the way you cover up how damn flustered you are with a scowl.
You hate hate hate the way he's turned the tables on youâ how he's managed to turn what was supposed to be you teasing him into him turning you into a gooey mess yet again. And yet...
"Oh shut up and keep walking," you say in defeat, not able to look him in the eye. You might just combust on the spot if you do.
He sounds all too pleased as he lets your hands drop between you two, fingers still weaved together, swinging your joint hands easily to the breeze.
There's a smile to his voice when he saysâ "Whatever you say, beloved."

Never again
The quiet beep of machines ticked like a lullaby in the background as her eyelids fluttered open. The world felt hazy, gentleâlike floating on a cloud. Her limbs were heavy, but warm. Secure. The blankets draped over her were soft, but not what she noticed first.
It was the feeling between her legs.
Thick. Cushioned. Squishy.
She blinked again, slower this time, and swallowed. Her hand moved tentatively beneath the blanket. Her fingers pressed into the padding cradling her hipsâwarm, wet, and clearly used.
Not even awake for five minutes⊠and she hadnât felt it.
Her breath caught. Not in panic.
In awe.
The surgery had worked.
A tremble ran through her chest, and then a soft, shaky smile formed on her lips. A tear rolled down the side of her face and soaked into the pillow.
She had really done it.
She lay there for a moment, breathing through the swell of emotion. Her body felt different nowâless like something to control, more like something to be cared for. And thatâs what she wanted. Not on a whim. Not impulsively. She had agonized over the choice, crying in his arms, wondering if it was too much. Too extreme. Too forever.
But each time she doubted, he had been there. Her Daddy. Not pressuring. Not promising fairytales. Just listening. Holding her. Reminding her that what she wantedâfreedom from bladder control, from expectation, from the exhausting weight of adulthoodâwasnât wrong. That if this was how she needed to feel safe, to feel little, then he would support her. Entirely.
And she had chosen it.
No more âtrying.â No more âpotty training.â No more shame.
She let out a breathy laugh through her tears. Her diaper squelched softly as her legs shifted. A thrill went through her belly. It felt real. Undeniable.
She had no control now. None.
And somehow⊠that made her feel completely safe.
Still, her cheeks flushed as nerves danced under her skin. This was new. This was big. But even with the tiny buzz of uncertainty, her heart bloomed with relief.
She didn't have to worry anymore. It wasnât up to her now.
The door creaked open.
Her heart leapt.
There he was.
Daddy.
He filled the room like sunlight, stepping inside with a warm smile and quiet eyes that knew everything.
âHi, baby girl,â he said softly.
She let out a little hiccup-sob of joy as his arms wrapped around her, lifting her up into the safest place in the worldâhis chest. Her head nestled under his chin. His hands pressed firmly around her body⊠and lower. He cupped the front of her squishy diaper with a soft, approving squeeze.
Her body shivered. Not from shame. From recognition.
From ownership.
He whispered into her ear, low and close:
âLooks like someoneâs not potty-trained anymoreâŠâ
She giggledâhelplessly, joyfullyâand nuzzled closer, her voice muffled against his shirt.
âNever againâŠâ

Hi! I absolutely love your Jack Abott fics!! Youâd are a wonderful writer! I was wondering if you would consider doing a jealous Jack fic? đ
Aw thank you! Of course! I've had one in the works since I put out a poll. Enjoy!
Jealousy Looks Good On You
Summary: Jealous Abbot is quite possessive and isn't afraid to show it at work, or in the elevator ;) T/W: Bit steamy, Abbot isn't afraid to touch what's his. Masterlist
âYou keep that Abbot furrow up youâll burst a blood vessel.â Robby laughs from where heâs leaned against the nursesâ station.
Jack doesnât answer, his jaw creaks as his teeth grind together. He can feel the headache starting to form behind his eyes from where his gaze is trained on you. A growl almost forms in his chest when he watches your eyes sparkle as you laugh at what one of the cops says. He can feel his nails digging into his palm as his fists clench.
âSeriously, Abbot.â Robby knocks his shoulders against Jackâs, breaking him out of his trance. âWhat has gotten into you?â
âDonât know what youâre talking about.â Jack says as he turns to his friend, willing a smile to his face. It drops as soon as he hears you laugh again, his scowl back as he turns towards your direction.
âI see lover boy is at it again.â Dana scoffs, patting Jackâs shoulder as she walks past him to drop off her bag as her shift starts.
âSome days I think the only security we need is to protect some of these guys against Abbot.â Robby smirks at the glare Jack sends him.
âAbbot, sheâs just talking, cool your jets!â Dana says harshly, causing Jack to look down at his shoes.Â
Jackâs irritation peaks when he sees the cop touch your elbow, his vision pinpoints on the contact between the two of you.Â
His feet move before his brain can stop them, carrying him across the room toward you. He can hear Robbyâs voice calling after him, but itâs just background noise compared to the storm brewing in his chest. By the time heâs standing a few feet away, he notes the faint flush on your cheeks as you clock his movement.
âJust finished with a consult, sorry to keep you waiting.â His smile is predatory as he leans in, pressing a kiss to your hairline. His hands instinctively pull you into his side as he wraps his arm around your waist.
âAnyway, let me know if you hear anything on it, Iâm sure the rig will show up sometime.â Y/n waves as Jack is practically dragging her back to the nursesâ station, his only intent to pull you back unto his world, under his gaze and protection.
Dana snorts from behind her hand, clearly unimpressed with Jackâs attitude. He shoots her a look sharp enough to cut glass. You roll your eyes as even Robby is having to bite his lip to withhold his laughter.
âI guess weâre headed out.â Y/n says, raising her eyebrows in annoyance. She looks up to Jack who still has a hand on her waist. âAm I allowed to say goodbye or are you going to hulk out again?â He rolls his eyes with a huff; he leans back against the counter as you gather your things, his gaze sweeping across the room like a bodyguard looking for threats.
âHe isnât a man of sharing; the man covets peanut M&Mâs like a kid at Halloween.â Robby laughs, rolling his eyes as he feels the bite of Jackâs gaze.Â
Y/n barely has her things gathered before Jack is ushering them out of the ED; she calls out a parting goodbye as he stomps them out through the ambulance bay. Heâs livid when he watches her shoot a sarcastic salute to the cop she had been talking to earlier.
Once out of ear shot, he winces as he feels her rally to call him out. âJack, what the actual fuck?!â
âHe was flirting with you.â He grunts, clearly still in full blown protective mode.
You grab his wrist to halt him, making him turn his broody gaze down to you. You burst out laughing at the dark look in his eyes that seems like it should be in a period drama, and not on your boyfriendâs face.
âOh my god.â You blow out. âAre you fucking jealous because I talked to the cop about a boat rig, theyâd had stolen last night?â He turns away stiffly and continues walking towards the direction of your apartment building, ignoring the laughter that almost has you doubled over.
âWe were talking about the boat that was stolen from the police department parking lot, trailer and all, and youâre acting like some damn brooding period romance wannabe Jack!â Heâs still ignoring you, trying to quicken his pace. Now that the initial jealousy has worn off, heâs slightly embarrassed by his behavior.
Heâs holding the door for you to grab before heâs punching his keys into the lock on the front door of your apartment complex. His jaw is tight again, a muscle ticking. He can feel the triumphant smirk on your face youâre aiming at his back.Â
He leans against the back wall of the elevator, his arms braced on the railing. You chuckle slightly as you wait for the elevator to reach your floor, your arms crossed as you shift your weight as you stand in front of him. You startle as you feel a sharp slap delivered to your ass by Jack.
You scoff and turn to him, eyes wide and mouth agape. âExcuse me?â you ask.
He crosses his arms and drops his eyes down to you and then back up to the screen to watch the floor numbers climb. âMine.â He growls softly.
âDonât start.â You warn, turning back around. You jump again as he places one last slap to your ass before brushing past you when the elevator doors start to open.
âJack Abbot.â You scold, hustling after him, his dark chuckle echoing back to you from down the hall. Heâs leaning against the apartment door, his gaze still dark, his arms crossed. You take probably a bit too long studying the veins as you walk up, enjoying the ways his muscles flex.
You eye him with an eyebrow raised and a shake of your head. You dig into your pockets to find your keys.
âIâm not going to be able to walk tomorrow am I.â You say as you push the door open, his gaze still heavy on you.
âNot if I can help it.â He says with a wicked smirk; his lips crashing into yours, his hand already possessively around your neck.Â
âJealousy looks really good on you.â You moan, chuckling softly at his lack of control as he pushes you across the threshold and into your apartment.
------------------------------------------------------ A/N: Slowly working through requests! Per usual I hope you and enjoy and lmk what y'all think!
